Eating right should always be essential if you want to lead a healthy lifestyle. So start your 2010 right by choosing to eat foods that your body needs, not the junk it craves.

You need to add your veggies to that gym time, including more green vegetables such as broccoli, kale, asparagus, peas and cabbage, as they are full of alkaline and fiber. Protein should come from quality sources such as organic chicken, lamb and fish preferably, since it's much healthier than from processed meats.

You  should also try to incorporate a protein shake to ensure you're getting enough protein to ensure you getting enough throughout a day. Besides a whey or other protein shake makes a great mid afternoon or morning snack.

Drinking plenty of water is essential. Eat every three to four hours to avoid the body going into starvation mode and storing fat. Ideally you should have about 6 meals a day, including snacks. The largest meal should always be breakfast, and if you serious about your eating, it should never be skipped.

If you want to loose weight try to incorporate these 12 power foods into your meals, as much as possible, as advised by the Abs Diet creator, David Zinczenko:

A - Almonds and other nuts
B - Beans and legumes
S - Spinach and other green vegetables

D - Fat free or low fat milk, yogurt, cheese
I - Instant oatmeal
E - Eggs
T - Turkey and other lean meats

P - Peanut butter (but only in small portions)
O - Olive Oil
W - Whole grain breads and cereals
E - Extra protein (whey and protein powder) - use in shakes
R - Raspberries and other berries
