The Women's Center Karate Club, founded in 1976 by Susan Ribner and now headed by Denise Williams, 4th degree black belt, is an all female school dedicated to serious karate training in a supportive environment. We are devoted to the empowerment of women and girls of all ages and physical abilities. The karate style practiced at our school is a Japanese style called Shotokan. This rigorous form of karate is quite popular and is practiced the world over.
The Women's Center Karate Club is affiliated with the Japan Karate Association, a world-wide organization headquartered in Tokyo. The local JKA is located in New York City. The Women's Center Karate Club also participates in activities of The National Women's Martial Arts Federation.
