Mindfulness meditation is the foundation practice of everything we do at the Shambhala Meditation Center. Originating from Shakyamuni Buddha, it is a 2,500 year-old-tradition of self-discovery that develops our ability to pay attention to what's happening from moment to moment, without losing ourselves in our memories of the past or our anticipations of the future.
Group practice at the Shambhala Meditation Center directly strengthens the sangha, or community, by encouraging our individual commitments to a path of mindful living. Students of all levels are challenged to deepen their practice, heighten their curiosity, and explore their experience to the fullest.
Taught by our qualified instructors, this one hour basic meditation class is for beginners, as well as anyone who would like to refresh their understanding of the technique. This is a drop-in class; no registration is required! Wednesdays at 6 pm and Sundays at 12 noon ($10 suggested donation).
Meditation instruction is not just for "new" meditators, instruction is also recommended as part of our ongoing practice. You are always welcome to come in and speak to an instructor about your regular practice and you may even ask to form a working relationship with the instructor of your choice.
