Stress affects us all; it is part of the human condition. Our capacity to manage it has a tremendous impact on our quality of life. As Yoga practitioners we become able to locate stress, feel it in the body, and relax into it while we are in a Yoga pose. Along with basic movement and breath, Yoga offers us a psychological framework through which we can begin to understand where individual stress comes from. When these principles are applied to a Yoga-pose practice, students become empowered to embrace new attitudes and actually transform their stress into positive life experiences, gaining relevant insight and wisdom from their own bodies and experience. This seminar will be a combination of lecture, group exercise, and exploration of the practical applications of Yoga psychology in poses.
