It's cold outside, and you' much rather sit in your house eating comfort food than go for a run in the freezing temperature. However, if you stay at home and lounge watching tv you won't feel good both physically and psychologically afterward. Here are few tips to keep a healthy glow this winter.
Exercies. Who wouldn't rather curl up on the couch than hit the treadmill on a dreary winter day? So keep your exercise regime short and smart. Use burst of exercise such as brisk walk or running up stairs. This generates formation of natural feel good chemicals which help strengthen the immune system and help you fight any germ that your body otherwise would be more susceptible to.
Nutrition. Get out of hibernation mode. In the winter the body tells the mind it's cold and it needs extra fat. As the result people begin to "hoard" resulting in weight gain. Cravings are common. So stay away from sugary foods and white flour as much as possible. Rely on seasonings and herbs rather than fat for making food tasty. Use low-fat dairy products in recipes. And remember staying in shape and being healthy is a process, not a destination.
