You don’t have to slow down as you age. In fact, it might speed up the aging process if you do. Each year thousands of aging Americans are proving that...
Here are few ways you can reduce your daily calorie intake. Making very small adjustment to the way you eat every day can greatly help you in loosing weight and improving your overall health.
1. Breakfast. To help keep to your calorie budget, start your day off with a healthy breakfast. Good choices include oatmeal, low-fat or fat-free yogurt, fruits and whole grain toast. Instead of juice with your breakfast, have a piece of fruit.
2. Lunch and dinner. Fill half your lunch and dinner plates with vegetables such as salad, steamed broccoli or green beans (replace salt with herbs or peeper).
3. Portion sizes. Be aware of your portions. Portion sizes have increased at restaurants and take-out venues, especially over last 20 years. And larger portions mean higher chances you will consume more calories. When in doubt choose smaller sizes, split food with a friend or eat half and take the rest home for tomorrow's lunch.
4. Snacks. If you get hungry later in the day, snack on fruits and vegetables instead of candy, cookies and chips. Fruits and vegetables do not include canned fruit cocktail there is a good amount of sugar in the syrup the fruit is preserved in. If you can't get fresh fruits, go for dried.
5. Beverages. Remember that beverages have calories, too. Choose water and/or cut down on high-calorie drinks such as regular soda, juice, sweetened tea and coffees, and alcohol.
6. Exercise. If you can't hit the gym after work, get off the subway or bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way, or take the stairs to work instead of the elevator.
7. Night time. Stop eating two hours before you go to bed. Whatever you want to eat at that time is more likely not necessary and just added calories.
