Acne is frequent skin condition that can occur at any age. The primary causes for acne include mental stress, environmental factors as well as hormonal shifts in the body. The androgen hormone induces the sebaceous glands to excrete excessive amount of oil that clogs the skin pores. Homemade remedies are cost effective and easy to make, therapeutic treatments, herbal treatments are also available to improve the acne condition while reducing the risk of side effects and improving the overall health of the skin.

Over the counter medication that is commonly available in stores can be quite effective for acne as a topical treatment. Some side effects of the treatment include dryness and skin irritation. Retinoids are a treatment that are developed from vitamin A that unclogs the skin pores, reduces comedones and exfoliate the skin leaving it clear and smooth.
