For those who are not morning people, getting up early can be one of the hardest things to do. However, research has shown that those who get up before 7 a.m. are happier, healthier, and thinner than those who wake up later.

If you are not even close to being a morning a person, here are five more reasons that might help you convert:

1. Weight Control

While health insurance companies can put you into contact with a good doctor who can help aid in your weight loss goals, research has proven that those who get up early to exercise weigh less than those who exercise later in the day or not at all. Working up a sweat in the early morning helps your metabolism speed up throughout the rest of the day, helping you burn more calories all day long. Plus, when your metabolism is higher, you will be able to curb your cravings easier than if your metabolism was sluggish.

Getting up early can help prepare you for the day ahead by helping you be alert earlier. An early bird’s brain shows that they are more excitable and alert at 9 a.m., which is ideal for a professional, for they are more prepared for their presentations and the workday ahead. However, for those who are night owls, whose brains peak in the evening, you can train yourself to be an early riser. Each week, go to bed 10 minutes earlier and wake up 10 minutes earlier. If you continue this, you can become a morning person.
